I came across an interesting little blurb today about single-deck blackjack games in Vegas, that still pay 3:2 on blackjack. Here is what they had to say:
“Downtown’s El Cortez was recently named “best place to play blackjack” in the annual “Best of Las Vegas” survey, specifically because it pays 3-2 on its single decks. Another downtown casino, the Four Queens, also deals some “old-fashioned” single decks that pay 3-2.”
I find this to be very interesting because this is a much more fair and even game to the player, than the 6:5 blackjacks that have become so popular with the casinos. Some people believe, that 6:5 games shouldn’t even be called blackjack! And almost every gaming advisor or expert will tell you, avoid the 6:5 blackjack games!
This may seem, at first glance, to be somewhat trivial. But in fact, over only a few hours of play the difference becomes quite important. As it’s been stated at Stanford Wong’s BJ21.com:
“During a normal-speed blackjack game, the player averages five blackjacks per hour, meaning the player is shorted 1.5 bets per hour. In the case of a $10 bettor, he is being shorted $15 per hour!”
So there you have it, and you can easily see, as the stakes get higher, the difference becomes more remarkable.
Here at Larry’s Las Vegas our web users, members and visitors, are welcome to post reports and tell us about their gaming experiences in Las Vegas, and as webmaster I would love to hear from anyone that has played these downtown, single-deck, 3:2 games. I haven’t played at either place that has been mentioned. What are the minimums? What kind of playing conditions are we looking at?
Get out there and play! And let us hear from you.
