Learn to play craps with Larry!
Ever wanted to play at the Dice Tables but felt it was too intimidating to learn?
Here are a few introductory tips on learning and playing the game of Craps.
To buy your chips, you simply place your cash on the craps table and say, “Change Please”
The dealers are not being rude if they don’t take or place chips or cash from your hand. Hand to hand contact in Table Games is prohibited. After the dealer places your chips in front of you, there is a groove for you to place your chips in on the table railing. Chances are you arrive in the middle of the game or “hand”. Larry suggests that you wait until the next hand or “Come Out” roll. When the dealer announces “Coming Out” it denotes the beginning of the hand.
The object of the game (usually) is to make a “Pass” or roll a number other than a “natural” twice without a seven in between. So if you roll a 5 on the “come out” it becomes your “Point” and you throw the dice until you either roll a 7 (“7 Out”) and lose, or you roll another 5 and win. Congratulations you have just made a “Pass”.
On the “Come Out” roll you will either win or lose immediately if you roll a “Natural” Naturals are 2-3 and 12 which are “Craps”(natural losers) and 7 and 11(natural winners). Any other number you roll will become your “point” At this juncture you only win if you roll your point or lose if you roll a 7 (7 out). You also may make side bets during the hand. For example, you can bet on other numbers or combinations of numbers on the dice. Unfortunately if a seven rolls, everything loses and we “come out” again. This is just the basics you need to know.
Bet the “passline” (betting the dice will roll a number twice before a 7) or bet the “don’t pass” (betting the dice will “7 Out” before the “point” is rolled.)
Ask the dealer about making side bets. For a dollar tip, usually placed on the Pass or Don’t Pass line next to your bet, the dealer will help you all they can to win, learn the odds and make the recommended side bets.
We suggest you come back to Larrys Las Vegas.com for info on side bets. Place Bets, Prop Bets and Odds Bets, we’ll cover them all in “SO YOU WANNA PLAY CRAPS Pt. 2
