What are Tapas and why do I want them? Cafe Ba Ba Reeba, in the Fashion Show Mall (3200 Las Vegas Blvd) is the place to answer such questions.
Tapas is the name for a wide variety of small dishes and appetizers from Spain. Cafe Ba Ba Reeba specializes in this kind of dish, along with other traditional Spanish meals, and also has a very
nice outdoor dining area as you can see from the
photos we have here - click on a photo to see a larger image. The atmosphere was relaxed and the service was excellent. The menu is highly varied and it’s recommended that you sample several of the small dishes, and make a meal from that.
They provide some good hard-crust bread and oil, then I had iced tea and the beef empanadas ($5.25) to start.
The food was excellent and the sauce that they put with the empanada was very interesting, tangy and flavorful. The empanada crust was perfectly done and flaky with excellent texture.
I followed the empanada with the meatballs in sherry tomato sauce, ($5.50) which the waitress said was her favorite. The sauce was spicy and very light for a sherry tomato sauce, the spicing in the meat was just perfect. The meatballs were firm but not chewy, good temperature and the presentation was overall top quality.
I looked at some of the larger dishes some of the other patrons were having, I would love to go back and try the paella, however the smallest you can get is for two people and it takes about 40 minutes the staff said. For a light lunch that is flavorful, unique and not too expensive I highly recommend the Cafe Ba Ba Reeba in the fashion show mall.
